Center for Citizen Science (CCS), was established on 23rd March 2012 in Pune.
CCS is a registered public trust.
Scientific studies and research with public participation and science outreach are the major objectives of CCS.
CCS works in different fields of Astronomy, Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Technology, and Social Sciences.
Students or citizens who are above 18 years old and are science enthusiasts can participate in citizen science projects.
Anybody with any educational background or language can participate in CCS.
Under the guidance of eminent scientists and experts, participants receive basic science training.
These trained citizens then can participate in various citizen science projects.
CCS receives good support from various institutes in Pune and their scientists for its projects.
CCS has completed many such projects successfully and some of which have resulted in scientific papers.
Project Meghdhoot, Satark, Project Sahyadri, Cloud Microbiome, Dust storm microbiome, Study of microbes in the Ganges, Asteroid Occultation, Solar Eclipse, Meteor shower, Vidarbha - Meteorite fall, Lonar- study and conservation program, Hailstorm study, Malin - Landslide study these are few flagship projects of CCS in the past 9 years.
CCS encourages projects which are designed considering the need of society, science, and nature; also which have not been studied by any National institutes previously.
More than 500 members from all over Maharashtra with various professional backgrounds have participated in various CCS activities.
